Mental Health Awareness Week 15-21 May 2023

17/05/2023

We can all feel anxious at times, the uncertain world around us is certainly a factor, but it’s how we deal with those feelings of anxiety and uncertainty that’s important to help ease our worries.

For some, a hot bath and a cup of tea is just the remedy. For others, being active and creative can help keep anxiety at bay.

Studies have shown that alongside the physical health benefits, dancing also has many positive effects on mental wellbeing and has been proven to reduce the stress hormone cortisol, ease depression and increase endorphins; the feel-good chemicals that trigger a positive feeling in the body!

Dancing is not just a way to keep active, it’s the community, fun and learning something new that brings so many of us together to enjoy a common passion. It can be nerve wracking to start something new, so why not take a friend or family member along with you to your first class?

Remember, a problem shared is a problem halved, talking to someone about how we are feeling can help lighten the load a bit.
