The comeback year that was 2022

30/12/2022

With the turn of the year upon us we take a moment to look back at our highlights for 2022

After 2020 and ’21, it felt like everything we ran was a highlight moment, and we certainly were not taking anything for granted. We’re still slowly on the mend like many in the tourism sector and we’re extremely grateful for all of the guests we’ve been able to host over the past year, and for those who continue to place their faith in our holidays.

So, without further ado, here’s our highlight cap on the year that was.

Ski-Jive in Morzine, January

It was really touch-and-go as to whether we would be able to run this week, with the decision of the French Government to relax entry restrictions for Brits, taking place just weeks out! If it come only hours later, we would have had to postpone again. Thank goodness we didn’t, as it truly was a standout week for those who attended. Perfect skiing conditions with fantastic sunny skies for the majority of the week do help of course, but with the feedback we received after it was all done, we couldn’t wipe the huge smile off our faces for weeks. It was hard work to organise everything so last minute, but so worth it in the end!

We hope the conditions are just as good for the group going next month! The popularity of the week exploded this year with the trip sold out for months now. This gave us the opportunity to run another Ski week (Ceroc Ski Jive) in March which is filling up fast!

Line Dance and Ballroom in Huelva

After the success of Ski-Jive, we were instilled with confidence going forward and excited to be finally attending a new location to us, the Puerto Antilla Grand Hotel in Huelva. While yes, it is another Spanish location, it is still something different from the usual seaside Spanish touristy resorts. We happily received wonderful feedback from the international Line Dance group we welcomed, along with the intimate ballroom group, both in separate weeks of May.

The highlight was the beautifully manicured grounds of the hotel. Between the hotel and the seaside, surrounding numerous pools are incredibly looked after gardens that have you in owe. This continues within the hotel walls also, with luscious greenery everywhere you turn in the main reception hall.

The ever-popular Maggie Gallagher happily took the line dances through some new routines, desperately missing from dancers' repertoires for too long! For the ballroom group, it was the friendly faces and new to Club Dance, teachers recommended from holiday and dance, Stuart Tranter and Lynne Butcher to which the group warmed up to very nicely.

We cannot wait to welcome future groups here again, with 2023 hosting the Ceroc Blaze, West Coast Swing, and again, Line Dance with Maggie G and Ballroom holidays to the Antilla beach.

Ceroc Blaze in Paphos

It was 2 years in the making, and it was finally going ahead! The excitement leading up to the Paphos holiday was immense and at the same time, nerve-racking with wrapping our heads around the entry restrictions. Paphos is one of our more popular locations and it is clear to see why. The week was a wonderful affair at a wonderful hotel, the Athena Beach. Highlights would have to be the beach party, dancing in the amphitheater of Kurion, learning the Zorba, the gala night…Just all of it really ;)

Blaze heads to Huelva for 2023, but we have offerings in the form of Ballroom, Modern Jive and West Coast swing groups heading back to Paphos later in the year.

Ceroc Medfest in Calpe

The most anticipated holiday return on the dance break calendar, the Medfest outperformed our expectations this year, and we are so happy to say so. There were some views of concerns earlier in the year, with news of reduced accommodation options for the holiday from previous years, but we were certain the energy and vibe the Medfest holiday is known for would prevail. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces again after so long, while also seeing an influx of first-timers! This made for a truly special mix of guests, with the usual highlights being the flashmob and beach party, daytime poolside fun, and the vibe to the end each night in the piano bar.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank every one of you that joined us on any one of our breaks this year and wish you and all your families and happy and fruitful New Year!

There is so much to look forward to in 2023, but the most anticipated would be seeing all your faces, regular and new, on holiday with us. After all, it is you who make each of our holidays so special and for this, we thank you.

Happy New Year from all of us at Club Dance Holidays.
